GTEC warns public against 70 unrecognized institutions, including 14 in Ghana

The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has blacklisted 70 local and international institutions over accreditation and quality assurance concerns, warning the public to be cautious when enrolling in such schools or accepting their qualifications. Among the Ghana-based institutions listed are Doxa Open University, Quest International University, Debest College of Science, Arts and Business, Faith University Seminary, Volta University College, Kingdom Living Bible Institute, Global Professional College, and the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Training School. GTEC noted that certificates issued by these institutions may not be recognised for employment, promotions, or further academic studies in Ghana. The list also includes several foreign institutions from countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, India, Switzerland, and Italy. The Commission has urged prospective students, parents, and employers to verify the accreditation status of institutions through its official channels before making any decisions.
